I was born and raised in the Baltimore area. My family intoduced me to boating on the Chesapeake Bay when I was 11 years old. This event changed my life. I immediately loved the water, boats and boating. All of my spare time was spent around boats and marinas. My curiousity propelled me to become what I refer to as a "student of boats".
As a youngster, the first boat of my own was a 7- foot "SportYak" with a sturdy pair of wooden oars. I quickly "moved up" to a 12 foot aluminum rowboat with a 3 HP outboard. Then at age 18
I purchased my first "big" boat, a 30 foot wooden 1963 Pacemaker cruiser. I was hooked for life!
After a successful 18 year career as the owner of an Interior Design related business, I decided to pursue a career that followed my passion. With no previous yacht sales experience I started Bayport Yachts in December 1989.
Now, after more than 25 years of selling boats and tons of transactions with happy customers, I can truly say that I still love what I do and look forward to coming to work (almost) every day!
It's really easy to be good at something that you love.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, I never thought that my life would be this amazing ride. Growing up with boats, and sitting on my Fathers lap at the helm, I had found my passion at only 5 years old. At the age of 6 or 7, my parents put extra life jackets under me so I could see over the dash to pilot our family runabout boat that we trailered to local rivers and lakes every weekend. By 14 we had the typical cabin on a lake in Minnesota and I could not wait to get there on Friday - taking one of the boats out for a run was always my first priority.
My career in Telecommunications moved me to the East coast when I was 29, and I soon became friends with the owner of a 46’ sailboat on the Chesapeake. This was my first “big boat” and I was immediately hooked! I still enjoy sailing, but was quickly seduced by the large luxury motor yachts on the bay. Within a few years I bought my first, a 35’ Owens Concorde, in what has become a string of boats and experiences. Joining the Capital Yacht Club of Washington DC in 2001 I realized there were so many other dedicated boaters just like me who love this lifestyle and these great machines.
Achieving my 100 Ton USCG captains license that I maintain today, and having the opportunity of piloting, deliveries and training others on so many great boats, has furthered my boating career.
After 30 years in Telecommunications, it was time to move on and have some “fun” in life. Eric at Bayport approached me about working with him and we were off and running. I feel so fortunate to have learned the skills to enjoy running these boats, gained the knowledge of a life in boating, and bring ethics and solid business skills from a long & successful corporate career to help others discover their dream on the water.
I have one question, “Are You Out On The Water Yet?”
