MONTHLY AHOY LETTER!October, 2009 What with the high cost of postage and the many hours devoted to our Ahoy letter, we have made the decision to place our letter on our web page. So, come check us out often to see the latest news. I will try to update on a monthly basis. We are gearing up for the Boat Show season. This month the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show runs October 29 through November 2. We will be located on “G” dock at the Bahia Mar location. Featured will be not one, but two brand new 2010 Hampton 580 Pilothouse Motor Yachts Hull #12 exterior is in cream fiberglass and is almost completely decorated now. Hull #16 exterior is in white fiberglass and is in the process of being decorated. Each vessel has its own floor plan and of course different interiors. You may be asking, “Why two of the same model?” Well, the 580 has been one of our most popular vessels and we wanted to show you just how different each 580 can be. Many of you have asked for us to bring in a white boat and we still listen to YOU! Those that have previewed both of these vessels have picked out their favorite and it is a sure bet they will not last long. If you have the opportunity to preview them before the show, we will definitely make them available for you - just give us a call to make an appointment. This year we will also be showing a pre-owned Hampton 680 Pilothouse at this show. This vessel shows like new, as the owners have had a live aboard Captain caring for her since her arrival in the U.S. Unfortunately, the owner’s health is forcing the sale. It truly was sad to see them leave their treasured vessel. This unique boat features a fireplace in the salon and a bridge to die for!! The Captain has also offered his services, should you wish to purchase this vessel. Again, she was meticulously cared for. The January Trawler Fest is going to be held at the Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale this year January 29 – 31, 2010. This is the same location as the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. I don’t have our location assigned yet, so keep checking with the Ahoy letter for updates. We hope to have an Endurance by Hampton featured at this show. Not quite sure which one at this time. We are expecting a brand new 650 Hampton Endurance Long Range Cruiser in December but I’m not quite sure if we can have her ready in time. We just got news that we may also be receiving a barely used 700 Hampton Endurance, and hopefully it will be here the beginning of the month of December. This owner wants to go into a larger 800 Hampton Endurance with custom features he has only dreamed of before. It speaks volumes when we have so many repeat clients. I have often said, “It’s easy to decide to buy a Hampton, the difficult decision is, WHICH ONE?????” February 11 – 15, 2010 is the Yacht and Brokerage Boat Show on Collins Avenue. Our location is going to be changed from where you normally expect us to be. As soon as I know I will let you know. I’ll also have to let you know which vessels we will feature at this show. Keep on checking for the Ahoy updates. March 25 – 28, 2010 is the Palm Beach Boat Show held on Flagler on the Intracoastal. We have always been on the first dock. I’ll keep you posted on the featured vessels as we get closer to the dates. At our docks we do have a pre-owned 558 Hampton Pilothouse. I am putting in a brand new salon carpet and have put on new bed coverings. Her owner has moved up to a Hampton 580 and would like the 558 sold! We are offering her at a great price. We will make her available for your inspection at a convenient time for you so just give us a call for an appointment. For a list of our available inventory please go back to the Home Page and click on Yachts for Sale. If you should have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call. At Anchor Yachts, remember when you call, a person always answers the phone and if they cannot answer your questions they find the answer and call you back! We have always taken great pride in having brand new vessels in stock. So many of you have said you want a boat you can see, feel and touch before you buy. Give us some input as to which Hampton has caught your eye that you would like us to build. First, you must procure a slot in the production line. The first available slot as of this date is August, 2010. It takes about nine months to build a quality Hampton, a month to ship and about 4 – 6 weeks to commission her. If you would like to have us build you a vessel and incorporate some custom features, we will be happy to sit with you and plan the boat of your dreams. I think our payment plan is something you can live with and we have pictures taken of your dream boat as she is being constructed. We also would love to have you join us for a final inspection of your vessel in Shanghai. We will pick up all your meals and hotel accommodations. And, we will give you names of clients who have made the trip with us, some of them twice!!! We are looking forward to hearing from you or seeing you at one of the upcoming shows. Nautically yours, Sandy Helpful Hint: Microwave – Test to determine if cookware is safe to use. With most boats coming with a Microwave in the galley follow these directions below to determine if a dish or utensil is microwave safe. 1. Fill a cup with water. 2. Place the cup in the oven on or beside the utensil in question. 3. Microwave for one minute on high. water becomes hot and the dish remains cool, the dish is microwave safe. If the dish heats up, it should not be used for microwaving. Note: You cannot have one cup of water in the microwave with a power level of 10 for more than two minutes. If you leave it for more than 2 minutes, there is a higher risk of spontaneous boiling. If both items fit in the microwave without placing water on the utensil, the test results will be more apparent. This happens because some heat will be generated downward and the utensil may become warm. This would be a normal condition. RECIPE OF THE MONTH: CHOCOLATE PEANUT SWEETIES Kind of like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup with Pretzel Ingredients: 1 cup peanut butter; ½ cup butter (no substitutes) softened; 3 cups confectioners’ sugar; 5 dozen miniature pretzel twists (about 3 cups); 1 ½ cups milk chocolate chips; 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Directions: In a mixing bowl, beat peanut butter and butter until smooth. Beat in confectioners’ sugar until combined. Shape into 1 inch balls, press one on each pretzel and place on waxed paper lined baking sheets. Refrigerate until peanut butter mixture is firm, about 1 hour. In a microwave safe bowl melt chocolate chips and oil. Dip the peanut butter balls into chocolate and then return to baking sheet, pretzel side down. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
