RUFF SEAS was built for knowledgeable owners who had past experience with larger yachts. They made their decision to build an 80' Outer Reef after substantial research. Their background included shipyard ownership and their goal was to build a yacht that would give them considerable range when required, 3,000 miles at 8 to 9 knots and faster cruising speeds of 18-20 knots when desired. This criteria was combined with a traditional hull design, excellent seakeeping abilities and the exceptional volume of a 21' beam laying the ground work for building an 80' Outer Reef.
The combination of their great cruising experiences aboard RUFF SEAS and the satisfaction of working with a builder who is confident in his product and offers the flexibility to incorporate a buyer's individual designs into the build has led them to ordering a larger Outer Reef.
The Outer Reef 80 series has many standard features including: twin 25kw generators, 38 hp hydraulic stern and bow thrusters, electronics, 2000 lb. davit, etc., however, RUFF SEAS has over $750,000 in upgrades over the standard specifications.
