Amble Boat Company was established in 1995 and lies between Amble Marina and Warkworth Harbour. Located in 'the friendliest port' on the picturesque Northumbrian coast, the yards history dates back to 1870, with a proud reputation for building the finest North East fishing cobles. With the decline in traditional boat building the yard adopted new materials and developed the construction of all welded Aluminium alloy vessels up to 22.0m in length. From the small yard in Amble, vessels have been built for Morocco, Malta, Bahrain, South Korea and Jordan. The largest vessel to date being, Hamzah 1. A 20.0m Oil Pollution control Vessel, now operating in Aqaba. The company, owned and run by Nick and Katie Spurr, offers a comprehensive service to commercial and leisure owners, and the staff, led by foreman Stephan Foster embrace all aspects of marine work with particular expertise in GRP repairs, osmosis treatment, spray painting, marine joinery, marine engineering, fabrication and rigging. The yard operates two slipways, a Wise boat hoist, on site cranage, yard and undercover storage, extensive workshops and a well-stocked chandlery, complete with the "legendary" coffee pot.
