36' HERBERT BAUM Lobster Yacht
March 7th - Seller makes huge price reduction, $36,750 to $29,000. This not a result of a survey discovery, rather his motivation to find a willing steward who will enjoy the fine boat.
SEA-FEVER - Custom cabin cruiser designed in downeast “built up” style and built 1966 by Herbert Baum Boatbuilder in Kennebunk, Maine. Built for owner of Leighton Chevrolet of York Maine as sport fishing boat. Twin Corvette engines were originally used and replaced in 1995 with Chrysler marine engines. Also large side trunk cabin windows are unusual and similar to Rich designs of same era. Boat was completely rebuilt/refastened (bronze screws) in 2002-2004 by Paul Rollins Boatbuilder in York, Me.; New custom mahogany trim, toe rails and rails with S/S rub rails, new decks, windows, hydraulic steering, pumps, electronics, shore power, aluminum gas tanks, new gas lines and exhausts, garboard plus one planks, sistered ribs, many new butt blocks, new props. Very pretty classic Maine boat.
5/4 mahogany carvel planks on steam bent 2″ x 1 1/2″ oak ribs, oak keel, bronze rudders, 1 1/4″ SS shafts, 19 x 16 four blade props. Cabin tops/decks are marine plywood double layer 1/2′ covered with fiberglass, self draining cockpit with large stern scuppers, sleeps 4, head, galley. Although classic in downeast design (3.6:1), with her twin engines she is capable of planing at 3000 RPM and achieving speeds of 18 knots! ( from Wooden Boat Magazine)
In 2016, Strouts Point Wharf Company of South Freeport, Maine, dedicated to the art of boat restoration and repair, completed a cabin restoration, bottom soda blasted, reefed, caulked and painted.
SEA FEVER is in fine condition and ready to build memories for the new owners. 2017
