9 Reasons to list with Adventure Yachts
1. We’re in the business because we love boats and boaters: Boating isn’t just a business with us. We’ve cruised the Chesapeake Bay and beyond – from Maine to the Caribbean – and have developed many friendships based on a mutual interest in boats and boating. We still enjoy a day on the water whenever we can fit it in, but the importance of all this to our customers is that we’ve been there. Whether the conversation is about pumps, routes or teak treatments we have plenty of experience to draw upon.
2. We know our market: We don’t attempt to be all things to all people. We specialize in cruising yachts, both sail and power, because that’s what we know. Simply put, if a boat is built and equipped for at least a weekend aboard we can get it sold. If not, another brokerage can probably do a better job.
3. We’re professional brokers and a member firm of YBAA: Our reputation is our most important asset because this is our only business. We don’t run a marina, a service company or a charter fleet. Our total focus is on selling your boat. We’re affiliated with the Yacht Brokers Association of America, which is a self-governing body that has enacted a code of ethics to which all member firms subscribe. We wholeheartedly support the Association’s initiatives and will be happy to provide additional information upon request.
4. Your listing is a priority: We’re not a mega-brokerage with a hundred or more listings. We’re a small firm and represent fewer than twenty yachts at any given time. As a result, we know our listings well, take the time to develop detailed specifications with lots of photographs, and provide immediate feedback as events dictate. To us, your boat is an opportunity, not just another entry in the ledger.
5. We can determine the best asking price for your boat depending on your situation: While price isn’t everything, it is an important element when selling your yacht. In addition to industry pricing guides published by BUC and NADA, we have access to a Sold Boats database maintained by YachtWorld, our multiple listing system of choice. The guides are nice, but the variances from one to the other often reach 20% or more. Consequently, we prefer to look at the facts – precisely what have similar yachts been selling for over the past year or so. Using this information in conjunction with an on-board assessment, we can price your yacht with an eye toward a quick sale, or maximum return.
6. Your boat will be promoted on the internet, in the print media and to our fellow brokers: We advertise our listings in print publications such as Soundings and Spinsheet, and through the multiple listing service to our fellow brokers. But in today’s world the internet provides the most immediate and active advertising resource available. We chose YachtWorld as our primary internet presence back in 1998 because of their aggressive promotional capabilities. That choice has proven to be a wise one because today YachtWorld attracts more than 25 million page views per month – and your boat will be featured on one of those pages.
7. Your boat will be immediately available to over 1500 corresponding brokers: Yacht brokerage operates much like the real estate industry. We sell other brokers’ listings and they sell ours. So listing your boat with us automatically puts it in front of more than 1500 other brokerages. If we don’t have an immediate buyer, they may. And, we post our listings on the multiple listing network immediately – no stalling to see if we can attract a buyer before letting the world know about it.
8. We handle all the details for buyers and sellers: A lot transpires between the day a yacht comes on the market and the day of closing. A chronological list might go something like this: post the listing on the MLS, place the advertising, respond to inquiries, set up showing appointments (usually on weekends), expect some no-shows, qualify the buyers, negotiate price, arrange financing, schedule the survey, attend the survey and sea trial, obtain repair estimates if necessary, obtain loan payoff amount, insure clear title, take care of state registration, titling, payment of applicable taxes, arrange for US Coast Guard documentation, collect all funds required for closing, conduct the closing, and distribute the proceeds. We do it all.
9. We’re happy to supply references: And that brings us back to our most valuable asset – our reputation. We’ll be happy to put you in touch with any of our customers. Perhaps they can add a reason or two of their own why you should list with Adventure Yachts.
