NordSail One: The Nordhavn 56 Motorsailer series is a design that draws on Pacific Asian Enterprise’s extensive experience with the Nordhavn trawler and Mason sailboat offshore cruising yachts. The 56 is powered by a well-proven Lugger engine combined with a reasonable sailplan each of which could provide primary propulsion, or supplement the other as conditions warrant. The sailplan is contributes effectively to roll resistance. The inclusion of a Hundested variable-pitch propeller system allows adjustment of the engine power output to work with the power from the sailplan to increase fuel efficiency NordSail One is capable of maintaining speeds in the 7 to 10 knot range while burning a minimum of fuel.
